You almost certainly do not have to wait for probate to end
This is the misconception that costs families the most time. People assume the entire probate must conclude before a house can be sold. In most cases what you actually need is authority to convey — usually letters from the court appointing a personal representative.
Once that authority exists, we can contract and close. And we can go under contract before it is issued, so the paperwork and the court process run in parallel rather than one after the other. Families routinely save two or three months this way.
Every estate is different and we are not attorneys. Your probate lawyer should confirm what your specific situation requires — but do not assume the answer is "wait a year," because it usually is not.
